Categories are a great way of Cataloging your posts. This site currently has two categories, but only one has posts. The categories do not appear in the Categories Widget unless a Post has been assigned that Category.

Adding Categories is easy. Type in the name of the category and give it a description if you like. Leave the Category Slug field blank, and if this category is a subcategory, give it a Parent. Click the Add Category button and you are done.

A friend has a jewelry blog as a web site. She divides her blog into Bracelets, Necklaces, Earrings and Sold Items. Visitors can look at her recent posts or just the type of jewelry that matches their interests.
